Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse Bicester

We are an expanding forward thinking practice that prides itself on providing excellent patient and client care. We have a really great team of people who are passionate about dogs, cats and small family pets.

Could you be our new Deputy Head Nurse? Are you an energetic team player, passionate about nursing, with great clinical and organisational skills? Can you motivate your colleagues to deliver their best? If this is you then please read on!

Working closely with our Head Nurse to ensure that we deliver gold standard patient and client care, you will oversee the daily running of our veterinary hospital. You will have responsibility for all clinical activities, stock ordering and day to day staff management. You will also take part in the usual nursing activities such as monitoring anaesthetics, caring for patients, advising clients, placing intravenous catheters and taking blood samples.

We are offering a generous and comprehensive salary package. Diplomas and Certificates are encouraged and supported. RCVS and BVNA registration fees are paid by the practice. We meet and exceed the strict standards required for the RCVS Small Animal Hospital accreditation.  We keep detailed patient hospitalisation and anaesthetic records. We have the same nurse on wards for several days at a time to ensure familiarity with patients. We use capnography and pulse oximetry for anaesthetics, and we have heat mats and bear huggers to minimise peri-operative hypothermia. Needless to say we also have doppler BP, digital x-ray, ultrasound, digital endoscopy, laparoscopy, operating microscopy and comprehensive dental and orthopaedic kit.

Patient and client care is our top priority. We perform regular clinical audits to allow us to assess and improve our clinical skills. We encourage and fund CPD for all our team. Unlike 99% of UK veterinary practices, we provide 24 7 365 nursing care for our patients – we have a dedicated night nurse awake on wards all night providing care for our patients.

We look forward to hearing from you. If you would like to chat about the position please call us on 01869 323223 and ask to speak to Katy (our head nurse) or Kate (our practice manager). Please send your CV to
